In January 2025, when the devastating Los Angeles wildfires displaced thousands of families, Family First Foundation’s Lea Ubas organized a rapid community response, securing a warehouse, mobilizing donors and sponsors, coordinating volunteers from across the western states, and distributing essential goods throughout the crisis. All while serving on local school boards during the emergency.
Major brands answered the call. Procter & Gamble sent container loads of basic necessities, shampoo, shaving cream, and essentials for women and children. Purina donated dog food for displaced families' pets. Levi's and Gap sent clothing. Dell donated roughly 300 laptops, and families received close to 400 Chromebooks as well. Trucks pulled up to the warehouse in droves, day after day.
The Clippers and the Dodgers didn't just donate, they opened their own venues. Family First volunteers helped support relief efforts at the Clippers' FireAid benefit concert at Intuit Dome, and at the wildfire donation event held in Dodger Stadium's parking lot on January 17, 2025, helping distribute clothing, shoes, hygiene kits, and school supplies to displaced families alongside players and volunteers from the Dodgers, Galaxy, Kings, and Sparks.

Family First began in 2000 with a simple idea: use the relationships and opportunities around us to help young people see a larger future for themselves.
Sports became one of our earliest doorways because athletes and teams could capture a young person's attention instantly.
But the event was never the finish line. The purpose was always education, confidence, character, and the next step.
Over the years, that same philosophy expanded into community trust, family engagement, advanced STEAM access, and now responsible-AI education.
The programs have changed. The principle has not.
Open the door. Add structure. Help a young person walk through it prepared.
